Marvelous Magnolia Design Team Member!

Hi all - today I have some exciting news. There is a brand new Magnolia Challenge launching tommorrow called Marvelous Magnolia, and I am priveliged and thrilled to have been selected to be on there wonderful team...

 

 ...I'm sure all you die hard Magnolia fans will allready have been there, but if you haven't allready had the pleasure, then give it a whirl using the link above - your in for a real treat & are sure to be impressed! The site looks absolutely stunning...classy & stylish & very, vrey pretty. There are allready well over 100 followers, before the challenge has even started, so no doubt it will soon become a sort after place to be!!!

 

The site wanted to offer the opportunity to a mixtre of seasoned Magnolia vetrons, to newbies never having served on Magnolia DT's and everything in between! The same ethos is applied to entering the challenges...we would like to welcome ALL levels of ability & experience to come together through their shared love & appreciation of everything Magnolia. The Design Team is just amazing and there are some phenomenal creations lined up for the first challenge, all worthy of drooling over!!! There will be 2 teams, a pink team & a purple team who will alternate weeks and you can visit their individual blogs via the challenge site where all of the pictures are linked. Hi there crafters, today I have a card I made primarily with the Magnolia Down Under Challenge in mind. I wanted to use my new Summer Stamp 'Waterlilly Tilda', and it just reminds me of such a lovely sunny day, which I think we could all use at this time of year!  Don't know what the weather's like where you are, but here in sunny Manchester - it's not so sunny. Although we do keep having a suprise sunny day here & there in the middle of October, so with that in mind...

I used my new Go Kreate dies to make the shaped card blank & sewed around the edges, I must pick up some better cotton - this one doesn't show up very well on my photos! Stunning papers are by Maja Design - how gorgeous are these papers!!!

Deep Ocean Challenges - New Design Team - 'Sporty & Outdoor'

Hello there - today I have a bit of an announcement to make, as I am going to be part of a new design team over at Deep Ocean Challenges. If you've never seen the site, then you're in for a real treat. The style of it is just amazing & their breath taking header really gives you a taste of whats to come. They have some unbelieveably talented designers there, who have fabulous inspirational creations & blogs for you to drool over! ha ha. Anyway - so chuffed to have been asked to be a part of such an accomplished team & can't wait to get started...

 

...So without further ado, this challenge is 'Sporty & Outdoor'. As an ex-dancer I tend to favour the more pretty, visual sports - so I reached straight for my trusty 'Ice Tilda!'

 

I used my new Go Kreate dies to make the shaped cardblank, the pretty background stamp is by Stamps Away, all coloured with DI's.

 

 

Distress Inks:

Skin: Tattered Rose, Old Paper

Hair: Old Paper, Walnut Satin

Tilda's Outfit & Skates: Weathered Wood

Ear muffs, socks & hand warmer: Pumice Stone

Thatched roof: Brushed Cordroy, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Satin,

Bushes/ Greenery: Shabby Shutters, Bundled Sage, Brushed Cordroy, Frayed Burlap

Windows & Sky: Tumbled Glass, Weathered Wood, Pumice Stone

Path: Pumice Stone, Frayed Burlap

Ladies Dress: Fired Brick

Shading: Pumice Stone, Black Soot

The tags are decorated with metal spacers painted white & set with pearls

MINI TUTORIAL:

Out of the box technique using a frame die:

Materials:

Go Kreate Large Frilly Frame #5

Magnolia Stamp 'Ice Tilda'

Stamps Away Individual Stamp (L 1024)

Staz-on Ink Pad 'Jet Black'

 

Stamp Tilda as usual leaving enough space to her right.

Stamp the image again onto a piece of scrap paper (cheap printer paper works well!).

Cut out the image & position it over the origional Tilda (you can use removable spray adhesive to hold it in place if you wish).

Now stamp the background image over the top, in this case slightly to the right of Tilda.

Line up the edge of the cutting matt with the 2 points where Tilda meets the background so she is partly outside of the cutting area. (In my case the top point is just above Tilda's left ear muff & the bottom point is the tip of the left ice skate.)

PLEASE NOTE: This will vary depending on where the background stamp is in relation to Tilda.

Run through the die cutting machine, remove the die & finish cutting out the rest of Tilda with scissors or a sharp craft knife.

You should now have your finished image - Colour as desired!

Magnolia card - Dancing with Stars Tilda

Hi there, todays post is a lovely shaped Tilda card I've been working on using my new Go Kreate dies. I've been after these larger dies to make card blanks with for ages & lovin the results!!!

 

This is dancing with satrs Tilda from the Little Christmas collection 2012, as usual coloured with Distress Inks.

Skin: Tattered Rose, Old Paper

Cheeks: Spun Sugar, Fied Brick

Hair: Old Paper, Walnut Satin

Dress & Tights : Milled Lavender, Victorian Velvet, Dusty Concord

Wings & Tights: Pumice Stone

Shading: Pumice Stone, Black Soot 

Highlighted with Crystal Glamour Dust & Viva Declor Peral Pen 'cream'

 

 

Card has 2 removable tags made with Doo Hickey Vintage Tag die, both have lovely made with love silver heart charms!

 

 

Heart diecut is an old Cuttlebug die, with hole & fancy handmade pin. Also sentiment tab & mini-alphas spell 'love'.

 

 

Notice the lovely handmade glass pebble set on a button above.

The die above is Magnolia Doo Hickey So Wrapped Lovely, below is Lovely Fence.

  

 

 Flowers are Miss. Godivas by Prima, distressed with white paint.
