Marvelous Magnolia 'Dies'

Hi there & today it's time for another challenge over at Marvelous Magnolia. This time the theme is 'Dies', so we'd like to see your prjects with 2 or more dies used - infact the more the merrier! We are very lucky to have 2 great shops sponsering the challenge this week and they are...

This is a brand new store stocking beautiful shabby & vintage items, as well as some great stamp ranges including Magnolia & Saturated Canary. You really must head over using the link above to check out this fabulous store as I can see it soon becoming a popular crafty supplier!

This is a relatively new store that is fast becoming a popular craft stockist, easy to see why with their beautiful shabby & vintage items, they have some great deals on Magnolia background stamps as well as those gorgeous but sometimes ellusive (depending which country you live in!) Maja Design & Pion design papers, kort & godt flowers, pretty embellishments, Prima products and much more.
So withou further ado...onto my card...

I used Tilda with chicken and egg from the new Little Easter collection & teamed her with Happy Easter background stamp from the same collection and coloured with Distress Inks. I wanted to do a really soft, pastel colour scheme just right for those Spring makes so I used my Maja Design Vintage Summer collection papers. I just hope the weather catches up to us - it was actually snowing here the other day!

The lovely cardstock (used for the die cuts and matting the image topper) is the Core'dinations Whitewash collection. It's so pretty - lovely soft, muted, pastel colours that compliment these papers & the Distress Ink pallette so well. You can then sand the edges to reveal the more deeper of the colour core, which gives a shaded effect, simelar to inking edges.

Flowers are from The Ribbon Girl & butterfly is from a Pion Design cut out sheet, as are the mini-alphas spelling 'CUTIE'. The tab is Magnolia Doo Hickey So Wrapped die cut and I have trimmed the heart section off then folded around the image to create a tab. Butterfly edge is a Tim Holtz Alterations on the edge die, cut from Core'dinations whitewash cardstock - edges have been sanded to create a shaded effect.

(above) The hindges are a Tim Holtz Alterations die cut, I've used the bottom end and made 2 from the same whitewash card, sanded and set them with antique gold brads. (below) I made the sentiment from Adler typewriter font and printed onto plain white card. I inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink & matted them onto kraft cardstock with foam pads, then attached over a Spellbinders Nestabilities circle die.

Dies Used:
Magnolia Doo Hickey So Wrapped Lovely
Tim Holtz Alterations Hardware findings
Tim Holtz Alterations On The Edge Butterflight
Marriane Design English Rose (blue whitewash leaves)
Marriane design Frame/leaves (kraft acrdstock foliage)
Spellbinders Nestabilities Circle dies

CLP Sketch, MDUC & Midweek Magnolias Happy Birthday!

Hi there, today I'm posting a card I made using this gorgeous sketch from CLP challenge. If you haven't ever come across this site, you really must go there as it's simply delightful! The blog is stylish & pretty and they run a monthly sketch challnege, designed by Chelsea Le (one of my all time fave crafters) along with a talented design team who bring the beautiful sketches to life.

People often ask me 'what's the secret of making great cards?', well one fool proof way of getting good results is by using a well designed sketch as a starting point. These CLP sketches are simply the best around & look beautiful just as they are, before you've even picked up so much as a pair of scissors! Team this layout with scrummy papers, a well coloured image & some cleverly placed embellishments and you really can't go far wrong!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge are celebrating their 4th birthday, I love everything about this Magnolia challenge, the standard of work by the design team & entrants is second to none, which I suppose is down to the years of experience they have under their belt that sets them apart from other challenes. May you have another 4 years of success and creative flair!

Also Midweek Magnolias are celebrating their 1st birthday, where they have a fantastic blog hop that I've jsut been on, some great inspiration from the design team & lovely candy giveaway too - again may you continue to thrive throughout your next year!

Soooooo I thought I'd combine this beautiful CLP sketch with the 2 magnolia challenges Birthday celebrations & make a Birthday card...

I used 'Ballerina Bunny Tilda & masked her with this lovely wishing well background stamp by The Pixie Cottage to make a pretty spring time theme, here's a closer look...

Scrummy papers are my Maja Design & the image has been coloured with Distress Inks & highlighted with Crystal Glamour Dust & Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Glitter.

I made the shabby bows with white seam binding & added several shades of pink Distress Inks, sprayed lightly with water, scrunched & dried with a heat gun tool and tied into 2 bows.

Notice the 2 handmade glass pebbles (above) & length of pink pearlised beads I added to hang from bow to bow. Flowers (below) are kort & godt & WOC.

I added 3 metal spacers & set them with pearls as per sketch, then made a little banner shape for them to sit on.

Lastly I added the bunting from the sketch & stuck on Pion Design letters to spell 'Mia' for my daughters birthday.

I'd like to enter into the following challenges:

CLP - Sketch challenge
MDUC - Happy Birthday
Midweek Magnolia's - Happy Birthday
Time for Magnolia Challenge - Happy Birthday
Tilda's Town - Anything Goes

Deep Ocean - Cute & Cuddly

Hey all - it's time for another Deep Ocean challenge and this fortnight we'd like to see your 'Cut & Cuddlies!' We are very lucky to have a fantastic sponser from a relatively new shop called 'Live & Love Crafts' I know some of you will allready be familiar as they are soon becoming a great new name in vintage craft supplies. I have ordered myself & was shocked when the items turned up the very next day, less than 24 hours after I ordered! Not sure how they even did it, but needless to say their customer service is excellent! If you haven't been to the shop before, do go over & check out the scrummy items for sale there, just click on the link below.

Anyway on to my card, I just had to use these cute little bunnies from the Magnolia Little Easter collection as they are just too adorable! I have teamed this one with a background stamp by Magnolia also using masking technique.

The image is called 'Tilda hiding Easter Egg', coloured with Distress Inks then highlghted with Tim Holtz Distress Glitter in Picket Fence on the egg & flowers, its a chuncky glitter almost with dimention thats not really shown up on the photos, but looks really pretty in real, here's a closer look...

Notide the Tim Holtz tissue tape - I added 2 strips then removed the adhesive by pressing on to material several times & curled the ends back, which kind of just happens during the process.

The hindges are a Tim Holtz Alterations die, cut from Core'dinations whitewash cardstock - I LOVE this cardstock! the colours are just so soft & pretty & they really compliment the Distress Ink pallet.

Flowers & white berries are by Kort & Godt from Live & Love Crafts, the blue berries are by Magnolia. And last but not least, my fave bit (below) I made 2 cute little banners mounted on wooden sticks for the 'Happy Bunny' sentiment.

Thanks for looking!

Marvelous Magnolia 'Anything Goes'

Hi all and today it's time for another challenge over at Marvelous Magnolia, where this weeks theme is Anything Goes. It's sure to be a popular one so make sure you come along and play! Why not head over there now using the link above to check out the fabulous prizes in store, a great new way of choosing Top Spots to give equal opportunity to all levels of experience of crafters, and of course for some fabulous inspiration from the talented design team!

I have made a card for 'Mum' with Mothers Day just around the corner here (or a little bit later if your across the pond of course!) - I love how that highlights the beaity of blogging and bringing people together from all around the world! Anyway enough rambling on from me, here's my card...

Scrummy papers are Maja Design and edges have been inked, distressed and sewn. I've added some cheesecloth to add to the shabby effect. I've also just purchased some Core'diantaions Whitewash cardstock that I've been after for AGES!!! - I'm totally smitten with it allready, see the beautiful shabby whitewash surface, which then reveals a richer colour core - stunning!...another item on the 'basic must have list!' ha ha.

Notice the Tim Holtz tissue tape strips that I am just LOVING at the mo! I take the adhesive off the ends by pressing onto fabric, then they kind of just curl back by themselves.

Image is Tilda with chicken and egg from the new Little Easter collection & she has been coloured with Distress Inks & highlighted with crystal Glamour Dust.

I made the 'Mum' banner with letters by Pion design, cut out & mounted on foam pads onto a banner shape cut from papers from the Maja collection, then set with eyelets to finish. Banners are HOT right now arn't they?!!

Above shows the inner decorated with pretty and heart-felt sentiments from HOTP CD-rom perfect for expressing your Motherly love!

Deep Ocean 'For a Boy'

Hey all, today I am posting my card for Deep Ocean challenge & many appologies for being late. This time the challenge is to make something for a Boy, so I am posting a card I made for my other half for Fathers Day! It's a simple one, mainly because I don't have any Edwin stamps or boyish images my other manufacturers - I'm much more of a girly girl! I'd usually do something much more like the cards I do for magazine commissions type of style for a man, but as I'm allready late this will have to do! Appologies it's not up to my usual standards, but quite cute & none offensive ( I hope!!!) none the less! ha ha.

The topper is a Forever Friends sticker mounted on a circle die cut, I made a tab with Spellbinders labels die from some kraft packaging & used a gold peel off for the sentiment. I Then finished with a lovely teal coloured crinkle ribbon bow.
